I think the Spotted Harrier is one of our prettiest raptors, both at rest and in flight (you can click on the above image to enlarge it).
It has been an extremely special time for me filming and photographing a local pair of birds rear their two small chicks. The youngest chick is struggling to get what seems like a small amount of prey – so it will be interesting to see if both chicks will fledge.
I hope to upload some video footage of these birds soon, including some footage of the birds hunting over the farmland cereal crops.
