About

Raptor Capture is the name I have given to my blog, as I primarily film raptors – which are commonly referred to as birds of prey.

My name is David Gemmell and my goal is to showcase the beauty of Australia’s twenty four diurnal (daytime) birds of prey – primarily through the use of video.

I hope to inspire visitors to my blog site to take an interest in the birds in general, and in their welfare.

The birds live in all parts of Australia and provide a wonderful opportunity for anyone who enjoys travel, and meeting like minded people with a passion for nature and the environment.

The most difficult part is finding the birds and this is where I am reliant on the help of friends, land owners and the general public in locating many of the birds.

Please note, the footage within this blog site shows wild birds only, in their natural environment. I do not use captive birds in any of my footage (captive birds of prey are often used in commercial productions)  – preferring to film wild birds doing what they do naturally.

If you would like to help me capture some bird footage, and know of any birds of prey in your area, I would love to hear from you. My primary contact is my mobile phone number 0419 382 251.

Any information you provide will always be held in the strictest confidence and used only as authorised by you. Furthermore, you can be assured I will only film birds which have clearly become accustomed to my presence and displaying natural behaviors, ie not stressed by my presence.
